MANILA, Philippines – The perfect season attracts the National University.
On Saturday night, the Lady Bulldogs recorded their 15th victory in so many matches, which are only coming after a victory from the women’s volleyball claim in Season 84 of the UAAP in the Mall of Asia Arena.
Showing the balance that was present throughout the season, NU defeated La Salle, 25-20, 25-12, 25-21, in game 1 of their best of three titles.
Another victory in Game 2 on Tuesday will give the Lady Bulldogs purity in the tournament and their first title since season 19 in 1957.
There was no answer to NU’s firepower, with Mhicaela Belen scoring 16 points and Alyssa Solomon adding 15, including three of Lady Bulldogs’ last four points.
Ivy Lacsina and Princess Robles scored 12 points each for NU, who were never in danger throughout the match.
NU waited until the middle of the first set before unleashing their usual dominating sense of storming to 16-9. But La Salle didn’t give up easily, threatening within 13-17, just to watch Alyssa Solomon train consecutive aces to turn the momentum in favor of Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs made more turns 8-4 in the starting frame, but compensated with five kills against that of Lady Spikers, which shook the determination of the wing of La Salle.
The same thing happened in the second, except that the Lady Bulldogs were much fiercer, leaving the Lady Spikers behind with double-digit values through all-round dominance.
