Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson joked that the production team of The late show with Stephen Colbert carried out an “uprising” after being detained and charged with illegal entry in the Capitol. Republicans have accused a Democrat spokesman of admitting them to the complex.
The network first marked the arrests on Friday night.
The group reportedly filmed final interviews and comedy segments earlier in the day, but was escorted out of the area by police for failing to have proper identification and was told to leave the building.
They returned after public access to the Capitol and were spotted taking pictures and videos around the offices of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Lauren Beabert (R-CO).
Seven people were arrested and charged with illegally entering near Beabert’s office. The most notable person on the list was Robert Smigel, the comedian behind the character, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
The group was released overnight.

The most remarkable element in history may be that the production team for The late show with Stephen Colbert claims to have gained illegal access to the Capitol complex with the help of Representative Schiff. At least that’s what Republicans blame.
The Republican Justice Commission’s Republicans’ official account tweeted: “Adam Schiff’s friends infiltrated Stephen Colbert’s staff at the US Capitol and facilitated unauthorized reconnaissance tours of Republican offices.”

Just a peek from the mainstream media.

The tweet was an obvious blow to the House election committee’s urging committee conspiracy theory that Representative Barry Laudermilck, a Republican from Georgia, was conducting a “reconnaissance tour” of the Capitol on January 5.
Capitol police have since released Loudermilk from any suspicious activity. Schiff is a key player in the development of the January 6 story by the selected committee, which is currently being played in public hearings.
REPEAT: The truth will always prevail. As I said in January. The 6th Committee made its baseless accusations against me in front of the media, I never toured the Capitol on January 5, 2021. pic.twitter.com/qBoLcmxnYQ

Who released them?
Schiff, along with other Democrats Jake Aucinclos and Stephanie Murphy, were interviewed by Triumph earlier in the day. However, the Guardian announces this the band was released back to the Auchincloss assistant complex, which believed they had more segments to film.
Boebert took the opportunity to criticize the production team for The late show with Stephen Colbert after the news came that they had “broken” the Capitol.
“Why was it? [Colbert’s] employees violating federal law and in my office last night? she asked. “Was this an illegal reconnaissance tour or a complete uprising?” Did they come in? Did Stephen put an end to this? Is he accused? I want answers. “

Tucker Carlson responds to the arrests
Although the incidents apparently differed on several levels, Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson could not help I make fun of The late show with Stephen Colbert began the Capitol arrests, using the media’s own propensity for hyperbole.
“Last night, producers on the CBS show Stephen Colbert staged an uprising in the United States Capitol,” he said.
He targeted Schiff in particular, although nothing so far shows that he personally opened the door for the group to enter.
Carlson accused the elected member of the commission of hypocrisy over the incident because he “spent the last year and a half telling you that the unresolved violations of the space capital are a coup.”

Hypocrisy may not include a specific actual “uprising,” as Carlson later admitted in his segment, saying “joke aside,” but it is still tangible.
Whether it’s harmless or not, can you imagine what would have happened if someone like Ted Cruz, or Matt Gates, or Marjorie Taylor Green had allowed a Newsmax production team into the Capitol complex and they were subsequently arrested outside the AOC office? ?
They would be accused of trying to kill her.

Carlson makes a mocking offer
“Liz Cheney, call your office,” Carlson scoffed, proposing a separate commission to investigate the latest uprising.
“Adam Kinzinger is crying at the thought,” he added.
The media is the media, they see Carlson’s segment as genuine accusations of “insurgency” and Republican lawmakers being serious about “reconnaissance” when they do little more than embellish their commentary on the way Democrats have done for the past 17 months.
CBS, the network that broadcasts The late show with Stephen Colbertrefused to provide additional information about the arrests in the Capitol, according to New York Times.
The investigation is ongoing and Capitol police say more criminal charges could be filed. The chances of him sticking are slim, as it looks more like a mix between show staff and Democrat offices.
