Good lady is directed by Jenna Kato Bass, who shares her screenwriting credits with actors Babalva Baartman, Chumisa Koza, Chris Gksalaba, Haniso Kenka, Steve Larter, Sizve Ginger Lubengu, Nosifo Mtebe, Kamvaletu Jonas Razia, Sanda Shandu. They work together to create a story that focuses on
Cidi, a single mother, is forced to move in with her estranged mother, Mavis, a domestic worker who obsessively cares for her catatonic white “madam” in a affluent suburb of Cape Town. However, as Cidi tries to cure her family, a sinister ghost begins to get excited.
The story is told in hair and English, with English subtitles.
This is stated in the press release of Shudder Good lady is “a genre film rooted in the ordinary daily horrors of our society. The film explores the generational trauma inherent in South African culture, which extends from the past to the present, with chilling supplies and captivating results.
Collaboration between Fox Fire Films, Sanusi Chronicles and Causeway Films in collaboration with Salmira Productions and Strange Charm, Good lady was produced by Baartman, Kato Bass, Christina Seton and Samantha Jennings. Salman Al-Rashid, Sam Fromman, Richard Mansell, David Bass and Jason Newmark were executive producers.
