The Mist (2007) – WTF Happened to This Horror Movie?

A new episode of our video series WTF happened with this horror movie? has just been released, and in this we look back to 2007 Stephen King adaptation The fog (beware TIMES). A movie with one of the greatest endings of all time. To find out what went into making this film and deciding to finish it this way (King’s story has a very different ending), check out the video embedded above!

The fog was written and directed by Frank Darabont, who had previously adapted the history of King Prison The Shawshank Redemption and The green mile. The fog has the following synopsis:

After a powerful storm damaged their home in Maine, David Drayton and his young son set out for the city to collect food and supplies. Soon after, a thick fog rolled over and engulfed the city, catching Drayton and others in the grocery store. The horror grows as deadly creatures reveal themselves from the outside, but this may be nothing compared to the threat from within, where a zealot calls for sacrifice.

The film stars Thomas Jane, Marsha Gay Harden, Lori Holden, Andre Brauger, Toby Jones, William Sadler, Jeffrey DeMan, Francis Sternhagen, Sam Whitworth, Alexa Davalos and Nathan Gamble.

This is what WTF happened with this horror movie the series is all about:

Hollywood had its fair share of historically problematic productions. Whether it’s casting changes, the deaths of actors, fired directors, rewriting productions, constant delays, budget cuts or studio editions, these films all intended to be blockbusters, but were plagued by unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Anyway, we have to ask: WTF happened with this horror movie?

This episode from WTF happened with this horror movie was written by Emily Black, edited by Jaime Vazquez, narrated by Jason Hewlett, produced by Lance Vlczek and John Fallon and executive produced by Berge Garabedian.
