Serena Williams returned to the tennis court for the first time in nearly a year with a 2-6, 6-3 (13-11) victory Tuesday in a doubles match with partner Ons Jabeur.
Williams, 40, was out of the game after retiring during the first set from her match at the first round of Wimbledon on June 29, 2021. In the end, the injury was revealed a torn hamstring and kept her aside for nearly a year.
Next week is Williams ready to make his unattached return at Wimbledon. Her warm-up is a doubles competition with Jabeur at Eastbourne International in 2022. After a slow start on Tuesday, the duo teamed up to beat Sarah Soribes Tormo and Marie Buzkova in the second set and a tiebreak to advance.
