Scotty Scheffler sets a cash record for one season of the PGA Tour

Matt Fitzpatrick won the U.S. Open in 2022, but Scotty Scheffler still drew little attention to setting the record for most money earned in a single season on the PGA Tour.

The 25-year-old pro banknotes $ 1.56 million after finishing second at the Open, bringing his total for the current season to nearly $ 13 million with seven weeks left on the tournament calendar.

Scheffler surpassed Jordan Speight, who previously held the record of $ 12,030,465 won in 2015.

The New Jersey native is very attached to No. 1 place in the World Golf Rankings after winning The Masters in April. He has won four of six tournaments this season and has been a runner-up three times, including appearances at the Charles Schwab Challenge and, of course, the US Open. Scheffler finished the Open with just one shot behind Fitzpatrick, second to Will Zalatoris.

The PGA Tour 2022 continues with the Travelers Championship at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, later this week.
