Picard’s showrunner irritates even more inherited returns for season 3

In the last season of Star Trek: Picard they have long been beloved heroes are expected to make their big returns (and probably goodbye) to the Star Trek universe. Earlier this year, it was announced that almost the entire original cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation would appear in season 3. Now showrunner Terry Matalas is annoying even more characters from LPG showing up.

As TrekCore first noticedMatalas recently appeared on Inglorious Treksperts podcast and had something to say about the show’s final season. Including jokes about some unannounced returns:

There are some Star Trek people returning this season who are not Next Gen [primary] votes. I want to say that there is a character in “Next Gen” that I was … I really want THIS character to come back.

And when they did [agree to return]it was strangely more exciting than anything else. ”

There is quite a long list of characters that would be fun to see appearing for a new adventure, including Roe Lauren by Michelle Forbes and Dr. Catherine Pulaski. But Matalas confirms that Miles O’Brien of Colm Meeney will not be one of them, and Uppin Goldberg’s Guinan, Will Wheaton’s Wesley Crusher and John de Lancy’s Q appeared in Season 2. So that excludes them.

In addition to the annoyance of more cameos that should have been LPG fans get excited (like a LPG fan i’m happily drowning in nostalgia even when Picard sometimes it can be a great show), Matalas also talks about the overall rainbow of the upcoming season. He hinted that this would be a “transmission of the torch from one generation to the next”, similar to when the characters from Star Trek: The original series he would jump out LPG.

But what can excite me the most is Picard finally dealing with the absolute erasure of Beverly Crusher from the last two seasons. Crusher – if for some reason you read this blog and swimming familiar with TNG – was Chief Medical Officer of Enterprise; she was also a significant friend and lover of interest in Picard. In the finale of the series of LPG one version of the future even portrayed them as married and then divorced. IN Picard so far she has escaped mention, although the show has repeatedly asked Picard to comply with the deplorable state of her love life. Matalas said he wants Crusher actress Gates McFadden to have a “very strong story” for this final season.

Picard’s Season 3 is currently in production and will eventually air on Paramount +, but given that Season 2 has just ended, I would expect the swan song for LPGThe original cast will be here soon.
