New cases rise to their highest levels in four months; Active cases are on the rise

Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Takeri discussed the COVID-19 situation with senior government officials and explored the possibility of re-making face masks mandatory on Mumbai suburban trains in the face of increasing cases.

An official statement issued by the Office of the Secretary General (CMO) said Tucker had reviewed the prevailing situation with COVID-19 in the state, which has seen steady growth in new infections, especially in Mumbai and some other major cities.

In a virtual meeting with senior bureaucrats, the chief minister also discussed the possibility of making face masks mandatory for commuter train passengers, the statement said.
