Lapid will become prime minister of the transitional government, with elections likely to take place in late October.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Deputy Prime Minister Jair Lapid have agreed to introduce a bill to dissolve the Knesset next week. As part of the agreement, Lapid will be immediately appointed prime minister of the transitional government, with elections likely to take place on October 25th.
Leaders of all coalition factions are currently meeting in the prime minister’s office to discuss the issue, and an official statement from Bennett and Lapid is expected later tonight.
Sources say Bennett decided to dissolve the Knesset because the ordinances for Jewish settlers in Judea and Samaria were unlikely to be passed by the Knesset.
