Mother and toddler injured after fireworks break at OKC park

The malfunctioning fireworks struck a mother and her toddler, causing minor injuries. The mother went to the hospital. “The mother had several burn marks the size of a golf ball on the back of her legs,” Shearer said. “Some were first-degree burns and some were second-degree burns.” “It’s a rare occurrence, but the shell really didn’t function,” Heffernan said. Fire officials also said proper protocols were in place at the park and their crews were monitoring the event. “This family was very close to the edge of the perimeter, but they were outside the designated perimeter,” Shearer said. So how are authorities going to prevent this kind of incident in future events?”One thing, we can further expand the barrier of where we let them in,” Heffernan said. “But I want to emphasize that all of this was definitely followed to the letter of the law last night.”
