Mets ace Max Scherzer will begin rehabilitation on Tuesday

Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer is recovering from his injury and is reportedly back in the New York Mets in the next few weeks. The next step in recovery process comes on tuesday.

Last week, Scherzer told reporters he was in favor “90%” recovered from his sloping tension and on Thursday he threw three innings, a 50-run simulated game in Citi Field. Scherzer has not played for the Mets since May 18.

“I felt good all the time, I threw away all my games, so everything is fine,” he said after the simulated game.

The eight-time All-Star signed with New York in December and was expected to combine with other Cy Young award winner Jacob de Grom, at the top of the Mets’ initial rotation. deGrom has yet to play this season as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

Scherzer is 5-1 with a 2.54 ERA and 0.95 WHIP to 49 2/3 innings, covering eight starts in 2022.
