Matt Fitzpatrick won the US Open 2022

On Sunday, Matt Fitzpatrick caught his first major championship of his career, winning 2022 US Open in Brooklyn.

Fitzpatrick was the first Englishman to win the US Open after Justin Rose in 2013. He finished the -6 tournament, winning the US Open with one hit.

The 27-year-old joins only Jack Nicklaus as the only two players to win the US Amateur and US Open titles on the same field. Nicklaus achieved the feat of Pebble Beach in 1972.

Fitzpatrick shot 68 in the final round, beating Scotty Scheffler and Will Zalatoris. Fitzpatrick and Zalatoris were at a dead end at the top of the rankings to enter the final round on Sunday. Zalatoris and Scheffler finished -5, one shot behind leader Fitzpatrick.

Two important shots on the 13th and 15th holes highlighted Fitzpatrick’s performance. Fitzpatrick hit a 50-foot hard-hit at 13, followed by a 20-foot clutch at 15.

On the 18th, Fitzpatrick made a remarkable shot from the bunker to the green to save the hole and the US Open title.
