Described as a live spin-off series, the show with John Snow is expected to take place after the events of “Game of Thrones”, which ended in 2019 after almost a decade.
HBO declined to comment. Harrington’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The reopening of John Snow’s story will turn the dividing eighth and final season upside down and give viewers a chance to learn the fate of the surviving characters in the Emmy-winning series. John Snow was last seen leaving to travel north beyond the Wall with savages after being banished from Westeros.
An ongoing series could also open the door to the return of other celebrities, including half-brothers John Snow, Sansa and Arya Stark, played by Sophie Turner and Macy Williams. It would also be a sign that HBO will expand George R. R. Martin’s GOT universe beyond the source material. (Like CNN, HBO is a division of Warner Bros. Discovery.)
Harrington was nominated for two Emmy Awards, Best Supporting Actor and Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series, during his performance in Game of Thrones. He has since appeared in the Marvel cinematic universe, playing Dane Whitman in The Eternal, appearing in an episode of Amazon’s Modern Love, and starring in Shakespeare’s Henry V at the National Theater in London.
