After a “competitive bid,” Amazon Studios has picked up “Foreign Relations,” a buddy comedy to be directed by Kat Coiro and produced by Elizabeth Banks’ company, Brownstone. Deadline reported the news.
Neither does the source reported earlier Nick Jonas (“Jumanji; The Next Level”) and Glenn Powell (“Top Gun: Maverick”) are set to star, but full details have yet to be announced.
Jennifer Lopez’s rom-com Marry Me marks Coiro’s latest project. The movie is out in theaters and airing just before Valentine’s Day. Her upcoming credits include the Marvel show “She-Hulk: Lawyer”, Film adaptation by Liane Moriarty “The Husband’s Secret” and episodes of The Spider-Wick Chronicles on Disney+. Coiro has also directed episodes of “Dead to Me,” “Girls5eva” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” among other series.
You can then see Elizabeth Banks as a member of a notorious underground abortion collective in the “Call Jane.” Phyllis Nagy’s current historical picture is expected to hit theaters this fall. “Cocaine Bear,” Banks’ third film as a director, is slated for a February 24 release. She also produced the true story of a black bear that swallowed a bag of cocaine after a drug trafficker’s plane crash. Banks’ other producing credits include the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, the second film of which she also directed, “Shrill,” and her 2019 big-screen update of “Charlie’s Angels.”
