Quite well-known names and faces appeared in time Johnny Depp‘s defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard – but the breaking star from the courtroom was undoubtedly the actor’s lawyer, Camille Vazquez.
After Amber’s skillful baking during the actress’ cross-examination, Vazquez won social media, with some calling her “the queen of cross-examination” and others even calling her to become the first woman president!
Weeks after she helped Johnny win his case – which effectively saved his career in Hollywood – Camille posed for her first cover of the magazine with HELLO! USA magazine and told about how the biggest test of the year unfolds from her point of view.
Asked how she became part of a California-born court team that joined an international law firm Brown Mine in 2018, told the magazine:
“I worked for Johnny [Depp] for the last four and a half years. I have worked on all the issues that the company has dealt with. And when we filed this case, I think it was natural for me to take the lead. Initially, I was one of the few women on the team. And to have experience with Johnny and to know his origins, his history and to know him, it made sense to prepare me for this case … Ben [Benjamin Chew] and I worked closely together, and then I started hiring different people in the company who I thought could bring a different perspective and other skills, individual skills. We have some fantastic writers; we have some strategic thinkers. And it just became this magical team of lawyers we can work with.
This magical team of lawyers skillfully maneuvers through the six-week trial, mesmerizing not only home viewers but also jurors – one of whom recently revealed about how “sharp” Depp’s team it was.

Johnny was not in court that day the sentence has been pronouncedbut Camille explained that the legal team had fun discussing the jury by playing an “intensive” round of Monopoly in a rest room they had set up near the courtroom. She recalled:
“When we received word that the verdict would be read, we were in a very intense Monopoly game. And despite how intense it was, we quickly threw away all our money. And then we had a little dance party to get our moves out … And then we get the sentence. ”
Camille said the team called Johnny “immediately” to celebrate the good news, adding:
“We measured it with FaceTime; he was so relieved, so happy and grateful. It was nice to see him smiling. We talked to a mutual friend of ours, and he said, “I haven’t seen Johnny smile like that in six years.” And it’s true. Now there’s a piece in it that he just didn’t have before. He managed to tell his story and was infinitely grateful; he was moved. We all were. I’m still a little emotional about bringing him back to life.
But the drama was not over. Camille revealed that the elevator broke on the way out to give an official statement to the press!

“It’s very positive for Johnny [Depp], and we immediately connected him by phone. So Ben and I got together and decided we needed to go outside. Then, when we were inside the elevator – it was a very hot day on the court and we were going down, it broke! We thought we would stay there and luckily the boys managed to push the door open and we went downstairs. So we were able to make the statement; it was a day I will never forget. “
Of course, the unforgettable experiences did not stop there. Camille explained that the world’s attention to her during the trial was “surreal” and “a little stunning.” She thought.
“It was a surreal experience and, to be honest, a little amazing. And something I wasn’t prepared for. I was just doing my job. I had the feeling that due to the client and the nature of the case, he would become something bigger than himself, but the attention to the legal team – specifically to me – was interesting.
But the lawyer accepts everything calmly and hopes to use her newfound fame to inspire other women – especially Spaniards and Latinos – to follow their dreams.
