An Illinois father is accused of drowning his three young children in a bathtub during a visit to jail earlier this week.
According to people, Jason Carels is accused of three murders for the death of his children – 5 years Bryant3 years old Cassidyand 2-year-old Gideon. His estranged wife, Debra Carels, had to take the little ones after spending the weekend with the 35-year-old dad. However, she was unable to obtain them, so she asked police to conduct a health check at the Round Lake Beach residence around 1:40 p.m. on Monday. ABC 7 Chicago reported.
When police arrived at the home, they found the bodies of three children. neither NBC Chicago reports that Jason drowned the children one by one in the bathtub and then left their bodies in bed at home. An intrusive note was left at the scene, addressed to Debra, which read:
“If I can’t have them, neither can you.”
At the time of the discovery, their father was missing along with his red Nissan Maximawhich triggers mass demand. Eventually, police tracked down the I-57’s car and chased it in a high-speed chase for 17 minutes, which ended when Jason crashed his car. Police Chief of Round Lake Beach Gilbert Rivera said at a press conference:
“After the crash, Karels made statements to police officers involved in the chase and carried worn-out cameras showing that he was responsible for the deaths of children at the Round Lake Beach home. He also said he tried to commit suicide several times after the children’s deaths.
Jason was transported to the hospital to heal his injuries before being transferred Lake County Jail the next day. A judge ordered his bail of $ 10 million.
After the tragedy, Debra talks about the death of her children, telling stories CBS Chicago on Wednesday:
“The most important thing for me was the children, and he knew that. He knew that nothing mattered but these children, and he took them away from me because he knew he would hurt me the most. ”
The mother told the paper that she and Jason were divorced when the killings took place because he “constantly plays games and neglects his family”. Still, she wanted her children to have a relationship with her father, and she brought them to him this weekend. Unfortunately, things took a terrible turn. She added:
“I thought what was right was that the father should be involved. The father must see them. I just had so much faith; so much faith, so much love, that it would all work out in the end.
