IND v SA 2022: Dale Stein Supports Dinesh Karthik to Rishabh Pant for T20 World Cup

The former South African Pacer Dale Stein thinks so Dinesh Kartik is before Rishabh pants in the race for the position of goalkeeper-bait in the T20 team of the Indian World Cup. According to Steyn, while Pant has refused to learn from his mistakes in the ongoing series against South Africa, Karthik seems to be just going from strength to strength.

Kartik was named player of the match at Friday’s T20I in Rajkot. He broke 55 in 27 balls, his highest score being the T20I, as the Men in Blue defeated the Proteas with 82 runs and scored a five-game streak of 2-2.

Sharing his views on the Kartik vs. Pant debate, Stein said India must choose the one in shape to compete in the T20 World Cup in Australia. During a discussion on ESPNcricinfothe South African legend said:

“Pant had four options in this series, but he seems to be making the same mistakes. You would think that good players learn from their mistakes. He’s not and DK just came out every time and showed what a great player he is. If you want to win world championships, you choose a person who is in shape. If he is in a purple spot or in a hot shape, you choose this person. “

The 38-year-old added about Kartik’s chances of participating in the T20 World Cup:

“There are guys whose teams choose their reputation. But the DC is in such fantastic shape that if it continues, it will be one of the first names recorded on this plane when it toured India for the World Cup later this year.

Karthik got into the bat on Friday after Pant’s dismissal for 17 to 23. The hosts were in trouble at 81 for four. However, the 37-year-old broke nine fours and two sixes to raise India to 169 in six.

“He understands what bowlers want to do” – Dale Stein on the success of Dinesh Kartik

Ever since the beginning of IPL 2022, Karthik has been in sensational shape. He played as a finalist for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and continued his great cycle in the ongoing T20I against South Africa. Analyzing Tamil Nadu’s impressive recent appearances, Stein said:

“DC was in phenomenal form and it just seems to be getting better and better. He has a great guard mentality. He reads the game really well and knows and understands to some extent what the bowlers want to do. And then he supports it with really good skills. “

Stein continued:

“His reverse swings, swings on his lap, these are blows that are played by someone who understands what the player will throw before he even runs to the cup. He often attacks the first and last ball over. He puts the bowlers under pressure and the boys just don’t have an answer for him.

Karthik and Hardik Pandya (46 of 31) added 65 runs for the fifth goal in the fourth T20I to help the hosts finish with a competitive overall result. Avesh Khan then took four against 18, while India beat South Africa for 87 with 16.5 overs.
