Georgia mom speaks out after church day care workers accused of allegedly abusing her 3-year-old son

A Clarkston mother is speaking out after two church daycare workers were accused of abusing her toddler.

It was early July when news first broke of alleged abuse there First Baptist Academy Clarkston Daycare. According to a police report from the time, the three-year-old boy’s grandmother picked up her grandson from daycare on July 6 and noticed he was “visibly upset.”

Since then, criminal charges have been filed this week — and Christine Collierthe boy’s mother, spoke in an interview for people.

She said at Thursday’s exit that the daycare was “a place she trusted to take care of her son” when she first signed him up for the church’s program in December 2021. Months later, however, things changed dramatically . She also noticed something was wrong with her toddler after his grandmother brought him home. She said people the boy was “hysterical” and “unable to speak” as well as showing many physical signs of abuse:

“My son was hysterical and could not speak. He was missing a shoe and his face was swollen. I also noticed claw marks that were dug into his skin.”

Just horror, poor child…

The mother immediately demanded answers as to what had happened to her son. She contacted the church, which allegedly only admitted to her that there was “tension” between the workers and the child. When she asked to watch CCTV footage, however, the truth came out.

In the video, the workers appear to be abusing the toddler — and no doubt the police agree. The horrified mother said:

“The shots were inhuman. [He was] they pushed him to the ground, pulled his hair, punched him in the face and pushed open the door.”

You can see the CCTV footage for yourself in the video (below):

Christine went on to suggest that this must be why her little boy didn’t “adjust” well to the daycare during the “six months” he attended:

“It was amazing. We wondered why he still hadn’t adjusted to kindergarten after six months.”

Absolutely heartbreaking…

Jackie PattersonA lawyer representing the mother and her son made it clear that they claim this is not a “one time thing”:

“With that tape we saw, it had to be a model. This type of abuse has to be more than a one-time thing and the child’s behavior has changed a long time before the abuse is discovered.”

The two women who allegedly abused the toddler had warrants issued for them and were both arrested and charged with first-degree child cruelty, according to police records. As of Wednesday, both women had been released from jail, and it was unclear whether either had taken plea deals.

Clarkston First Baptist Church has remained silent since the incident, refusing to speak to anyone contacted. They are said to continue to deny that anything went wrong with Collier’s son and their employees, but this has not been confirmed with an official public statement. The case is still under investigation.

However, the thought that they would try to get away with telling the mother they only saw “tension” – when the footage clearly shows the child being picked up and hit?! This is a HUGE indictment of the poor parent….

In an interview with CBS46 AtlantaThe distraught mother says she worries she and her son may never feel safe again:

“This is a church. It’s a church! And I trusted the church.”

It’s so sad. Our hearts go out to Christine and her son. We hope they get the justice they deserve.
