Former spokesman Joe Walsh said Mike Pence would never be president and owed the country a testimony against Trump.
Walsh told CNN’s Jim Acosta:
Mike Pence was aware of the coup plans. He knew what these people were doing. He had an obligation to say something. Just as he has an obligation to say something now. Look, Olivia was working with Mike Pence. I served with him in Congress. I’ve always liked Mike Pence, but he sold his soul to Donald Trump in 2016 because he wanted to be president.
Because of what Pence did on Jan. 6, he will never be president because the Republican base despises him. So Pence has a duty on the country now to do everything possible to help save our damn democracy and to testify publicly and go against Donald Trump.
Mike Pence’s commitment to the country did not end when he did the right thing on January 6, 2021. Pence still hid the delusion that he could win the Republican presidential nomination, but Walsh was right. His career ended as soon as he refused to agree to Trump’s coup.
Pence owes the country to speak before the 1/6 commission and to testify publicly before the whole nation. Mike Pence could help save democracy if he has the courage to know that he will never be the leader of the Republican Party, but he can go down in history as someone who helped save American democracy.
