Chris Evans Light year presents below expectations in his box office debut.
The new Toy Story spinoff movie Light year was first announced in December 2022 as the final story of the origin of the original Space Ranger Buzz that inspired the toy. This movie includes Chris Evans as the voice of the iconic hero who was at the heart of the action figure voiced by Tim Allen.
Given its roots with Toy Story, one of the most beloved animated film series of all time, Disney and Pixar obviously had high hopes for the box office potential of Light year. On the one hand, this is the long-awaited return of Pixar on the big screen after their last three films Soul, Luke, and Turning red were transferred to Disney Plus as free exclusives, not as their originally planned theatrical releases. It also features Captain America himself, Chris Evans, as the iconic space ranger.
However, it seems that the film is performing slightly below expectations at the box office. Light year it was originally projected at $ 70-85 million for the first weekend, but is currently expected to earn $ 52 million on its debut. While this will be the pandemic’s biggest animated debut, it’s certainly below what Disney and Pixar had hoped for, especially for a film about one of their most popular franchises.
During his second weekend at the box office, Dominion of the Jurassic world it will probably be on top again. The sequel is currently on track to earn $ 57.1 million. This will not be the first time a Pixar film has surpassed the dinosaur franchise at the box office. In 2015, the first Jurassic world was the ultimate predator this summer, ahead of the acclaimed Pixar inside out who won the best Oscar-winning animated film.
Here is Chris Evans’ synopsis Light year:
