Channel 5 to prepare ‘The Murder She Wrote’ meets ‘Below Deck’ drama series – Deadline

Of paramount importance Global’s channel 5 is well known for its love of luxury cruise ships and its next drama series will be set aboard one sailing the Mediterranean.

The British network has ordered HMS Kill (working title), an eight-part murder-mystery series from British indie Clapperboard, in association with Endeavor contentthis is billed asMurder She Wrote answers Below deck.”

Set aboard a luxury cruise ship touring Mediterranean holiday hotspots, it follows the ship’s new cabaret singer, Jack Grayling, who discovers that there are sinister elements beneath the surface. After a passenger is found murdered in the first port of call, aspiring first officer Kate Woods’ dream of her own command is put in jeopardy, and Jack finds himself back in his old life as a detective. A flurry of murder mysteries follows, each set against the backdrop of a different stunning seaside destination.

The series was commissioned by Paul Testar, Executive Director, Drama for Channel 5 and Paramount+. Clapperboard is executive produced by Mike Benson and lead writer Paul Matthew Thompson, with Sandra McIver producing and Gordon Anderson joining as director. Endeavor Content, owned by CJ ENM, is distributed worldwide.

Producer Clapperboard has already made several dramas for Channel 5 including An intruder and Maxine. Channel 5, meanwhile, has long been associated with popular factual shows set on cruise ships, most notably Cruise with Jane McDonald.

Filming is set to begin later this year, with casting details to follow in the coming months.
