Negotiations have stalled as fighting has concentrated in eastern Ukraine.

It has been four months since Russia invaded Ukraine. The casualties are increasing on both sides.

The NATO chief warned that the conflict could continue for years as Russia focuses its offensive on capturing strategic cities in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian and Russian delegates last held face-to-face talks in Istanbul in March.

Diplomatic talks have since made little progress, with both sides saying they have reached a stalemate.

Can the conflict be resolved through diplomacy? And if so, under what conditions?
