Thor: Love and thunder welcomes Natalie Portman back to the MCU and this time she is the one holding Thor’s hammer, Mölnir.
Thor: Love and thunder marks Chris Hemsworth’s fourth solo outing for the god of thunder in the Marvel cinematic universe, reuniting him with his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman. This time, however, Jane took on the name, strength, and old hammer of the Asgardian. The film was inspired by a comic storyline that saw Odinson deem unworthy of Mölnir, who was later taken over by Jane, turning her into the new Thor.
New image from Love and thunder was released, showing Natalie Portman, dressed as the Mighty Thor, with Molnir beside her. As seen in other promotional materials for the upcoming Marvel film, the surface of Mölnir is still pierced with cracks after its destruction in Thor: Ragnarok.
Based on trailers for the film, which show King Valkyrie’s Tessa Thompson in a similar location, Mighty Thor appears to be in New Asgard. The new image of Natalie Portman as Thor, released by Total Film, can be seen below:
It is unclear whether Natalie Portman will remain in Thor’s role at MCU from now on, although director Taika Whitey recently said she doesn’t think so. Love and thunder a film about “passing the torch”. Anyway, Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor seems ready to face Christian Bale’s terrifying Gorr the God Butcher.
Here is a synopsis for Thor: Love and thunder:
