A FDNY firefighter from Long Beach died when a tree fell on a car during a family vacation

A FDNY firefighter from Long Beach was killed when a tree fell on his car during a family vacation in North Carolina.

Casey Scuddin, a highly decorated FDNY firefighter, was killed in Asheville, North Carolina, when a tree fell on the SUV he and his family were in during a storm.

He was driving his family to see Biltmore Estates when the incident happened at the entrance to a popular tourist attraction. Scuddin was killed instantly.

Scudin’s wife, Angela Scudin, says the tree came out of nowhere.

He landed right on the car, right on Casey. Everyone was knocked out except me. And I just walked out the window, approached him … his hands were blue. I caught them and kissed him and just told him the truth that he was the best husband and the best father and that it was good to let him go. And I slipped his wedding ring off his finger and put it on me, ”she says.

Skudin’s 19-year-old son escaped from a serious injury. His 10-year-old son, CJ, was hospitalized with a partially collapsed lung.

A flag was waved in half in front of Scuddin’s Fire Ladder 137 in Rockaway.

Joseph Darkin fought fires with Scudine for 16 years.

He says: “He was a great man, a great firefighter, he loved his family, he loved his job, he loved his fire department. He was a man you could count on. He would do anything for you, he would probably give you the shirt off his back if he could. “

Skudin’s family says he was very excited to take his family on holiday to celebrate Father’s Day and his birthday. He would have turned 46 on Sunday.
