Shinsuke Nakamura wanted to get experience for the Intercontinental Champion, Gunther. He was ready to take on Ludwig Kaiser to win the opportunity this week.

Liv Morgan also talks about her win over Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam. SmackDown was ready to crown its next Clash at the Castle contender on this week’s show.

Triple H booked a packed episode of SmackDown that had some fun matches and segments. Check out the five things WWE SmackDown got right on this week’s show.

#5. Ricochet picked up a victory over Happy Corbin

Congratulations Corbyn was not happy with Ricochet’s reaction to defeating Pat McAfee backstage at SummerSlam. This led to a match between Corbin and The One and Only on this week’s WWE SmackDown.

Corbin went for the end of days early, but Ricochet quickly fought off it. He sent the big man out of the ring and pounded him to keep control. The former Golden Gloves boxer sent Ricochet into the ring post before hitting a big right hand.

The only one failed to hit a top rope powerbomb and was sent crashing off the ropes. Pat McAfee provided the distraction Ricochet needed, allowing him to hit the Recoil before scoring the win with a 630-splash.

The match was good in many ways. Ricochet got a chance to prove himself against one of the best workers on the show. Meanwhile, McAfee remained active in his rivalry with Corbyn.

Ricochet is one of Triple H’s guys who could benefit from a change at the top. He could get some big matches that could lead to big wins down the road.

#4. Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Ludwig Kaiser after a good fight

Shinsuke Nakamura was looking for a shot at Gunter’s Intercontinental Championship. This week he faced Gunther’s collaborator Ludwig Kaiser in another singles match.

Kaiser attacked early and pushed Nakamura into the corner. The entertainer responded with an elbow and some knee strikes to come out and hit a dropkick. He did some signature moves to keep Kaiser off his feet for a while.

Kaiser did his best to keep control of the race for a while. He hit an uppercut before slamming Nakamura to the mat. The Ring General’s associate couldn’t survive much longer as Nakamura hit a heel and completed his opponent with Kinshasa.

The entertainer stared Gunther down at the ring as the segment ended. A match between these two superstars would be awesome to say the least. WWE SmackDown will look to keep Gunther’s title a little longer before he can move to the top spot.

Meanwhile, the real story here is the relationship between Kaiser and Gunther. It looks like the former will soon break away from The Ring General and go after his title.

#3. Raquel Rodriguez fights to prove herself in the Gauntlet Match

Liv Morgan came to WWE SmackDown before no. Gauntlet Match of 1 contender. She talked about how she proved how much the title meant to her by surviving Ronda Rousey’s hand. The crowd chanted “You’re out” and Liv admitted she couldn’t hold on much longer.

Sonya Deville came out and said she would win the Gauntlet Match to face Morgan for the title at Clash at the Castle. The match started when Aliyah came out to confront Deville.

The two women traded some moves before Sonya hit another finisher on Aliyah and pinned her. Raquel Rodriguez came out next and immediately punished Deville. He locked in a headlock and wore down the former WWE employee.

She eliminated Deville with a Texana Bomb before Shotzi came out next. Both women went at each other hard and kept the action going with some good moves. Shotzi was a good challenge for Raquel, who had a hard time holding her down for long.

Raquel ended up hitting Shotzi with a spinning elbow drop and her finisher to eliminate the star from the match. Xia Lee quickly came out and unloaded on Rodriquez. She worked over the knee of the former NXT Women’s Champion and locked her in a crab hold.

Raquel hit some power moves before hitting the Texas Bomb for another elimination. Natalia ran next and immediately went after Raquel’s injured knee. She used her experience and locked in pace to defeat her larger competitor.

Big Mami Cool continued to show off her power and hit a vertical suplex before running out of an archer. She hit a big dropkick off the top rope and put Natalya away for another elimination.

SmackDown has done incredibly well to showcase Raquel’s talent on the show. She eliminated some of the top women on the roster while injured. It was a good way to build her up without making her go all the way so soon.

#2. Shayna Baszler earned a title match against the SmackDown Women’s Champion

Shayna Bassler was the last participant in the Gauntlet Match. She targeted Raquel Rodriguez early and locked in a submission to punish the injured superstar.

Raquel was still trying to hold on and fought back with some good moves. She hit a dropkick before attempting a spinning elbow. Shayna countered her and locked Kirifuda’s clutch.

Big Mom Cool rose to her feet and showed that she was not ready to give up easily. Lady pisses though scored the win from a pin drop counter.

It was a good match between the two women and WWE did well by keeping Rodriguez away from Liv Morgan for now. Shayna has not been a factor in the SmackDown women’s division for some time and will benefit from the match at Clash of Champions.

While she may not win the title at the event, it looks like it will help Liv become a much more established superstar.

#1. Karrion Kross attacks Drew McIntyre on WWE SmackDown

Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman rule came with The Bloodline at his side. He wasn’t sure when Paul Heyman would return after receiving an F5 through the announce desk at SummerSlam.

The WWE SmackDown leader asked to be recognized before talking about his monumental victory over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Drew McIntyre then came out and said he had heard enough.

The Scottish Warrior was poised to defeat the Tribal Chief at Clash at the Castle and become the second undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Just said, he was attacked by the returnees Carrion cross.

Cross tore apart the Scottish superstar and slammed his head into the steel steps. The latter’s butler Scarlett set up an hourglass in the ring as the show ended.

Triple H made WWE very unpredictable in just one week. It was great to see Cross back on the show. He is ready to erase his previous main roster performance and become a major threat once again. It’s good to see multiple superstars aiming for the company’s top title to keep things interesting.

A current star just challenged Seth Rollins. More info right here.
